Flawless Lab-Grown Diamonds Guide

gold diamond jewelry
Lab-grown diamonds are marvels created above ground using
unique processes. Every lab-grown diamond has its own 4Cs
ratings, including clarity. Clarity refers to how many inclusions
or surface blemishes a diamond has.

Some lab-grown diamonds have little to no inclusions or
surface blemishes, garnering flawless clarity ratings for
these gemstones. Flawless (FL) lab-grown diamonds and
internally flawless (IF) lab-grown diamonds have exceptional
clarity, showcasing impressive beauty for any jewelry setting.

What are Flawless Lab-Grown Diamonds?

Flawless lab-grown diamonds are lab-created diamonds that have high clarity ratings. They have flawless or internally flawless clarity. This means that they have no internal imperfections when viewed under 10x magnification, and little to no surface blemishes under the same viewing conditions.

Both IF and FL lab-grown diamonds represent the flawless clarity category and are leading choices for engagement rings and other jewelry.

Flawless Lab-Grown Diamonds Prices

Flawless lab-grown diamonds and internally flawless lab-grown diamonds are not as rare as natural flawless diamonds. Because of this, FL and IF lab-grown flawless diamonds are typically priced lower than natural diamonds with similar 4Cs reporting.

Lab-created diamonds have the same optical, chemical and physical properties as natural diamonds. However, because lab-created diamonds can be produced in abundance, they are less expensive, making larger size diamonds more affordable. They also may not hold value over time.

Flawless Lab-Grown Diamond Details

To be considered a flawless lab-grown diamond, these gemstones must meet specific criteria set by the diamond clarity guidelines. Internal inclusions and surface blemishes are the components considered for natural and lab-grown diamond clarity ratings.

Inclusions are not present in FL or IF lab-grown diamonds at 10x magnification. This means they are free of characteristics like feathers, knots, wisps, cavities, clouds, graining, or any other inclusion that interrupts the lab-grown diamond’s pure carbon structure pattern.

IF lab-grown diamonds, also known as internally flawless lab-grown diamonds, have no inclusions but may have some surface blemishes when viewed at 10x magnification. Blemishes on the exterior of a lab-grown diamond are typically external features like scratches, pits, lines, or nicks. Some external blemishes can be removed with careful polishing.

Lack of internal flaws and little to no surface blemishes at 10x magnification help improve the strength and beauty of flawless lab-grown diamonds.
