Price Per Carat

Useful for comparing diamond prices, this is the price of a gem divided by its weight. Larger stones are discovered less frequently, and typically the price per carat increases with size. The price of a single, 2-carat stone is much higher than the total price of two 1-carat stones due to the rarity of larger stones.
