What "Importer of Record" Means
When you order from Blue Nile from outside the United States, your shipment crosses an international border. This process involves a legal designation called the
Importer of Record (IOR). The IOR is the entity legally responsible for a shipment at the point of customs entry in the destination country, including paying all applicable duties and taxes and ensuring the goods comply with local import laws.
When the Customer Is the Importer of Record
For most Blue Nile international orders, you are the Importer of Record. That means IOR responsibilities are yours from the moment the carrier picks up your package. Before placing your order, we recommend taking the following steps:
• Check your country's import regulations for jewelry, diamonds and precious metals.
• Be prepared to pay duties and taxes upon delivery or customs clearance.
• Confirm product eligibility in your destination country before ordering.
If you have questions about your country's import requirements,
contact us before placing your order. It's easier to resolve questions before a shipment is in transit than after.
International Shipping Limitations: What to Expect

• Warranty and service terms. Product warranties and service agreements may differ for international orders.
• Delivery timelines. Blue Nile cannot guarantee delivery timelines for international shipments. Customs processing times vary by country and are outside our control.
• Carrier limitations. Some destinations may have carrier-specific restrictions that affect available shipping options or delivery speeds.
