What does CT TW mean?

Carat measures the weight of a diamond, with larger carat weights generally equating to larger looking diamonds. Diamond earrings are sold based on their total carat weight, which is often represented by a CT TW number. This number represents the total weight of all the diamonds in a pair of earrings, which is usually divided between each individual earring in a set.

For example, a 1 carat pair of diamond earrings will have two individual studs equaling a ½ carat each to total to 1 carat for the pair. For 3 carat diamond stud earrings, each earring will equal 1.5 carats for a total of 3 carats in the complete pair.
