3 Holiday Proposal Tips from The Yes Girls

Wedding planners are a common staple in modern weddings, but proposal planners are quickly becoming a popular way to propose in style.

Founded in 2008 by Heather Vaughn, The Yes Girls Events has the distinction of being the first team of professional proposal planners on the scene. They’ve helped plan proposals all over the US, from California to Florida, and from the beach to the ballpark. Heather also owns Box Sock, the pocket sock that hides your ring box until the moment you get down on one knee. Clever!

We sat down for a chat with Heather recently and mined her significant expertise for savvy holiday season proposal tips. We think there’s some great information here. Read on and learn from the best.

Make It Thoughtful

You might be feeling the pressure but you still can make it thoughtful and personalized just for her with ease. Pick three of her favorite things—a favorite Christmas tradition, her favorite flower, and her favorite holiday movie, for example—and incorporate that into your proposal some way. Sometimes the smallest details speak the loudest.

Take Advantage of Seasonal Activities

Think about all the fun things you can do around Christmas: viewing holiday lights; ice skating; heading to the mountains, chopping down your own tree, and decorating it together; or exchanging Christmas stockings (what a great place to hide a ring!). Let the seasonal cheer guide you in creating the perfect fun and romantic proposal.

Start a New Tradition Together

For example, go Christmas tree hunting together and plan a dreamy set-up with lights and a holiday picnic with hot cocoa and cozy blankets. Bring along an ornament customized with the date to represent the proposal—that’s a sweet, extra touch that won’t go unnoticed. Then, each year you can pick out a new ornament as a couple to add to your collection.
