Heather and I met freshman year of college. My mom is one of those people who talks to anybody, so while she was getting breakfast at the hotel before coming to help me move in she struck up a conversation with the family at the next table. It turned out that their daughter lived a few doors down from me in the dorm, and we quickly became friends as we explored the different clubs and activities around campus.
Around February of that year, I decided I was going to ask her out. She said no. But, we stayed really good friends and 4 long months later she had a change of heart.
Nearly 2 years after that, I asked for her hand in marriage. The night she had her change of heart I was playing a song I wrote, so I stuck in the same vein of ideas and wrote a song + instrumental, recorded it with a full band, and then did a video to go along with it. The song and video take the idea of a journey down a road, from her first rejection to her change of mind, all the way to the future. The video has pictures of us from the first day of our relationship and ends with a picture of a wedding and the line of the song "will you marry me." When she came home to visit me in Alaska, I rented out a theater and surprised her with the video. You can see how it goes in the link above! Hope you enjoy it, I know I loved every second of making it and carrying it out.
