Our Proposal Story: Not your typical "dinner and a movie"
My boyfriend and I have been together for over 5 years. I kept telling him that when he proposed I was going to know because I was certain he was going to do something out of the ordinary so I knew I would be tipped off. He was determined to surprise me.

After a long day at work, we went with our real estate agent to look at a house and then came home. It was such a normal evening. I had changed out of my work clothes and put on shorts and an old t-shirt. We were sitting there eating some leftovers and Jonathan suggested that we watch a movie. He wanted to watch Shrek. This was actually the first movie we watched together after we started dating so it has some significance to it. Of course I said ok.

We were sitting there watching the movie and all of a sudden, about 10 minutes in, the movie paused and he walked out on to the screen. Of course I was shocked, so I looked over at the chair where he had been sitting and he was not there. He apparently snuck out of the room sometime after the movie had started. The "on-screen" Jonathan proceeded to tell me that he loved me and that he couldn't imagine spending his life with anyone else. He concluded by saying, "So I have good news and I have bad news. The bad news is that if you want to watch the rest of Shrek, you will have to go find the real movie, because this one is pretty much over. The good news is that the guy standing behind you has a consolation prize for you." I turned around and he was down on one knee with a beautiful engagement ring. He asked me to marry him... and of course I said yes! After the proposal, he asked me to put on some different clothes because he had made reservations at a nice local restaurant so we could go have champagne and dessert.

Needless to say, he did surprise me! (If you're wondering how he put himself into the movie... he works for a television station so he used the green screen to edit himself into the movie.)
