Fairy Tales do come true
It has always been my dream to travel to NYC and take a carriage ride in Central Park...call it a school girl dream but, there it is. My husband and I are both military and before we started dating, I was in Afghanistan and he was in NYC for New Year's Eve. I told him about how jealous I was and he took a picture of the carriage rides for me and e-mailed it to me along with a :-*. I returned and we finally got to reunite from across the country, I was in Utah, he was in North Carolina. We began dating in June 2010. We were able to see each other every few months. In Spring of 2011, we were making plans for our summer to see when we would be able to get together, however, he was selected to deploy. Upon his return in November 2011, he flew out to WA to visit. He surprised me by getting some co-workers and my family to help him plan a trip to NYC. He flew to WA on Monday and we flew to NYC on Thursday...I knew nothing about where we were going until we got to the airport, where I proceeded to jump up and down like a little kid at Disney. hahaha...Upon arrival in NYC, there was a limo waiting to drive us to our hotel in Times Square. We ventured around the city until all hours of the night since we were on West Coast time. We got up the next day and went to Central Park for a carriage ride. I was asking for the carriage driver to stop so I could take photos of the bridge from across the lake. When I turned around, Mike was on one knee and I was in shock and didn't know what to say...I said, "What are you doing?" He said," I am proposing...I love you and want to spend the rest of my life with you. Will you marry me?" Of course, I said yes! Our carriage driver Ariel was amazing. He had champagne and chocolates waiting for us in the carriage and took a bunch of great photos. Would highly recommend him for anyone who wants a great ride and to learn some interesting facts about Central Park and the surrounding area. Afterwards, we went back to our hotel and changed clothes. We went to eat at Bobby Van's and then went to see Phantom of the Opera at the Majestic Theater. The next day, we wandered the city and walked the Brooklyn Bridge at sunset. We walked all the way back to Times Square and enjoyed the beautiful, fairy tale of NYC! Sunday, we had to part ways at the airport. He flew out before Christmas, as did his kids and we got married on the 23d of December. All our kids, 6 of them total, were in attendance as were some close friends. It is a testament that Fairy Tales really do come true and there are happily ever afters!
