A Perfect Proposal in Washington, DC
It's actually a funny story how Charles proposed to me because he told me after I said yes that, that was his fourth attempt to propose to me. On the day he did propose (January 16th), he was going to propose at the ice skating rink at the Sculpture Garden but it was too warm so the ice skating rink was closed! Then we were going to go to the top of Washington Monument but all of the tickets were gone so we went to the top of the Postal Museum instead. The view was amazing but there were so many people and it was too loud. Finally, Charles suggested we go to the Botanic Gardens since he knew that I loved flowers. I had an amazing time walking around and taking pictures while Charles seemed really nervous the entire time. I kept on asking him if everything was okay but he still seemed a little out of it. So after an hour we were about to leave when he pointed to a bench and said we should sit for a little. So of course, I take out my camera and said "let's take a picture with this pretty flower." Then it happened, he said "No I can't because I'm going to do something better for you"...and he got down on one knee and said "Will you marry me?" I was so shocked and surprised that I was speechless (I had no idea he was going to propose). Of course, the first words that came out of my mouth were "Did you talk to my parents?" He said "Yes" so then I said "Okay." He said "Does that mean yes?" and I said "Yes!" He put the ring on my finger and it felt like a dream. It was the most perfect proposal for me since it was far from cliche, was in the city where we met and fell in love, and was intimate.
