Our Proposal Story: Let it snow !
I had been planning my 300 mile drive and engagement in Washington D.C. for several months.I figured by March it would begin warming up and could do it on my girlfriends birthday in her hometown.I live two states away and let her know I was coming and had made special"birthday&q- uot; plans for her.I had reservations at a historic hotel with a room overlooking the Whitehouse.I had dinner plans at a small Italian restaurant a few blocks away.I had a limo scheduled to be waiting outside when we finished our meal. There was one kink in my plans...the biggest snowstorm of the season.Luckily we made it to the hotel without going into a ditch like most others that were stupid enough to be on the road that day.We got checked in to a beautiful room overlooking a pristine snow covered Whitehouse. We took a walk to the Washington Monument, but it was closed due to the weather. We went back to the room and got ready for dinner. We trudged a couple blocks to a nearly empty restaurant. The service and food were outstanding.I kept my fingers crossed that the limo would be there to take a tour of the monuments at night. My girlfriend was shocked when a driver opened a limo door as we exited the restaurant.I have been to D.C. several times, but never had seen fewer people than our special night. The monuments were gorgeous surrounded by a fresh winters snow. We got to the Lincoln Memorial and I asked the driver to stop.Normally there would be dozens of tour buses and hundreds of tourists, but not tonight !We walked up the icy snow covered steps and with Mr. Lincoln as the only witness,I asked Cici to marry me.It was awesome to have a monument to ourselves for such a special moment in time.We had the driver take us back to our room where we shared champagne and chocolate covered strawberries as we overlooked our personal winter wonderland. What a beautiful night with my beautiful fiance.
