Well, she came and got me, we drove to my house and went inside. My satchel was still slung over my shoulder and she told me to drop it so we could hug properly. Under the pretext of being neater, I told her I wanted to put it in my room,but that was really a ruse to get the ring.

Upon returning to her in the front room, ring in my breast pocket, I told her there was something I wanted to share with her. I sat her on the couch and told her there was a Bible verse I found that I wanted to share - Proverbs 18:22 - which says that a good wife is a gift from God. As I turned from her to grab the Bible to read from it, I took the ring out of my pocket and hid it in the palm of my hand.

After reading the verse to Julie, I told her that even though she's not yet my wife, I dearly wanted her to be mine and asked her to marry me.
