Our Proposal Story: A Day Filed with Butterflies
It was race weekend in Martinsville, Virginia. For the first time in years the weather was actually beautiful. I decided to take Melissa and her daughter Faeryn to the Smith River to do some trout fishing, skip rocks, and just enjoy the outdoors. Melissa is definitely an outdoorsy lady and Faeryn is scared of everything. I managed to get them down by the water and we skipped rocks and enjoyed the weather. There were Monarch Butterflies flying around and Faeryn was in awe, scared to catch one, but wanting to feel the wings. After about 10 minutes of trying I was able to cup and Butterfly in my hand and i proceeded to to let Faeryn touch the wings, after she had her fill, I walked over to Melissa and took a knee so she could touch the butterfly. I opened my hand and the butterfly sat there for probably 10-15 seconds before flying off and revealing the Blue Nile engagement ring hidden beneath. The rest of the story is followed by a bit of crying and one super excited 7 year old girl squealing with delight as her mother slid the ring on her finger. Of course her answer was yes. I also managed to catch my limit of trout which made the day all the better and Faeryn even got to reel a few fish in after she had me carry her to a rock in the middle of the river.
