On our approach to the two thousand year old city of towers, we crested a hill and were greeted with a breathtaking view. Immediately we parked to take panoramic photographs of the medieval town and surrounding vineyards.

Due to a light rain, I found myself walking through a bit of mud to capture photos of the vineyard before Eric suggested I come up to where he was standing, so that I could scrape the mud off in the grass.

Eric and I have a friendly competition on who can "out surprise" the other, and before we departed he had assured me there were no surprises planned for this trip. So after a quick kiss in the rain, when he said I lied, I assumed he lied about there being much grass to scrape mud on.

Instead, Eric went on to say, I lied. There is one surprise on this trip

I turned around to find Eric down on one knee. In the rain. In Tuscany. Next to a beautiful vineyard and overlooking the most gorgeous view my eyes have ever seen.
