Blue Nile seeks a Strategic Data Analyst to lead the company’s efforts to maximize the results of its core product category: certified diamonds. The goal is to utilize our tremendous warehouse of diamond data to optimize our vendor relationships, our selection, and our pricing. The ideal candidate has experience applying advanced analytical methods to produce high-impact business results.

Duties & Responsibilities
  • Continually improve our pricing [model] to optimize profitability
  • Drive business insights through analysis
  • Derive business intelligence from diamond data
  • Drive innovation in our diamond business
  • Understand competitive dynamics in an actionable way
    - Pricing, selection, changes and trends over time
  • Understand customer behavior, trends, and implications
  • Identify opportunities to improve supply chain strategy
Qualifications
  • 3+ Years experience in a similar position
  • Excellent ability to generate actionable business results through analysis
  • Experience in data mining and analysis, OLAP, and the ability to use the data to understand behaviors in the
  • customer and supplier base
  • Experience applying advanced statistical methods, including
    - Multivariate regression
    - Optimization models
  • Ability to build price-elasticity models
  • Experience using statistical methods to predict outcomes using historical data
  • Ability to generate reports from data queries
    - Data visualization skills
  • Strong sense of ownership and accountability
  • Results orientation
  • Strong desire to have a significant impact on the business
  • Ability to work independently
  • Degree in applied math or similar discipline required (advanced degree a plus)
  • Experience at a top-tier consulting firm a plus
