The engine that powers a watch to keep time. An automatic watch, also called a self winding watch, uses the movement of the wrist to constantly wind the mainspring inside the watch which moves the hands at regular intervals. In the case of a quartz watch, a tiny quartz crystal is electrified making it vibrate at 32,600 times per second to produce time accurate within 15 seconds per month.
